The decaptation of Saint John. Saint John was the patron saint of the Knights of malta. This was the largest artwork that he had made. and also the first one he had signed. Noticing the background of the painting is all one color it is warmer colors that is noticabke but does not draw all the attention to the one part of the painting. The main part of the artpiece is on the people. You notice the brighter colors on the people because it is the main focus of the painting. The brightest color is on the man leaning of the body and the body laying on the floor which is the

  1. Hi Lacie, this picture really does make the people pop out. The painting does use a lot warm colors and the warm background makes the white people stand out. Also the detail on shades on the people make look like a spot light is on them.

  2. I find this painting to be a doozy. This painting has so much going on between the expressionism of realisticness and the coloration used to better tell the story of the painting itself. The linework is great but for me the depiction of how it strikes me the audience is exhumed by the incorporation of the darker colors blended to give that old feel to it.
